Starve the Machine

It's time to leave social media
run by billionaires.

Why We're Leaving

Big Tech is Funding the Far Right

The guys running the digital town square are pumping hundreds of millions of dollars into partisan politics.

  • Elon Musk (X): Dropped $290 million to elect Donald Trump and committed another $90 million for the 2026 midterms. [1,2]
  • Jeff Yass (TikTok): Gave $16 million to Trump’s SuperPAC and $55 million to midterms. [3,4]
  • Larry Ellison (Oracle/TikTok): Poured tens of millions into Trump’s campaign using dark money groups to hide his name. [5]
  • Peter Thiel (Meta): Hand-picked and funded JD Vance’s political rise from the beginning. [6]
  • Marc Andreessen (Meta Board): Personally backed Trump while his firm, a16z, injected $100+ million into right-leaning AI PACs, Crypto PACs, and MAGA, inc. [7,8,9]

The Algorithms are Rigged Against You

Social media algorithms are not neutral. They are actively engineered to quiet progressive voices and boost the right.

  • The 65% Cut: Meta explicitly throttled "political content," which instantly slashed the reach of progressive accounts by up to 65%. [10,11]
  • The X Radicalization Pipeline: Research proves X’s algorithmic feed systematically boosts right-leaning accounts and pushes users right. [12]
  • TikTok's New Boss: TikTok already showed a right-wing skew. Now, Oracle CEO Larry Ellison (an enthusiastic Trump ally) controls the US algorithm. [13,14,15]
  • Boardroom Coups: Meta packed its board with Trump allies, including making Dina Patrick McCormack the company's President. [16,17]

Your Data is Being Weaponized

These apps are massive surveillance tools. They know exactly who you are, who you hang out with, and where you go.

  • Doxxing Activists: Meta voluntarily handed over user data to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to unmask anti-ICE activists. [18]
  • WhatsApp Backdoors: Meta built a backdoor into WhatsApp, allowing them to read your "private" messages whenever they want. [19]
  • Mass Surveillance Dreams: Larry Ellison openly cheers for AI-powered mass surveillance. Under the new TikTok deal, his company holds all US user data. [20,14]
  • Instant Censorship: Meta didn't just suppress content; they completely banned links to grassroots activist trackers and deleted rapid-response groups. [21]
